Our animation team organizes all kinds of fun activities for the children during various school vacations. In a playful way the children can discover the Veluwe.

With an indoor and an outdoor pool, you can always take a dip at Recreation Estate The IJsvogel. The outdoor pool is open from June to August (depending on the weather).

NEW AT DE IJSVOGEL: a real spraypark at the central square next to the reception, the indoor and outdoor pool, and the playgrounds. This beautiful water playground entertains all ages. Discovering the Veluwe by bicycle, in our opinion certainly one of the most fun activities to undertake outdoors. But that expensive e-bike, road bike or mountain bike, where do you put it?

Well; in our brand new bicycle hotel. Under lock and key, heated and accessible 24/7. We are still working on it, but around July 1 our bike hotel will open. You can reserve a spot when making your booking! ✓

Padel is the new craze, blown over from Spain. But did you know that you can also play padel (or tennis) on the Veluwe? Just 3 minutes away from The IJsvogel at Tennisclub de Harremaat. Book directly online? You can!

There are four bowling lanes at our Guest House for when you would like to enjoy an active hour of bowling. This is a perfect activity on a rainy day as well!

A favorite of all the boys and girls at Recreation Estate The IJsvogel is the soccer cage where they can enjoy playing soccer together.

Among other things, there is a large playground at the park where children can enjoy climbing, scrambling, sliding and swinging.

In the Gasterij you will also find an indoor playground. Ideal for when the weather is not so good! Open according to the opening hours of the Gasterij.

Cast your rod in our fishing pond. Fun with the kids or just to relax. At the park you will find a large pond with fishing jetties where you can easily cast your rod

The park also has a bocce court, table tennis table and pool table, among other things. You can do it all!

The Gasterij is the right place to organize all your parties and celebrations. Our atmospheric location can be booked for weddings, company parties, family reunions and children's parties etc.

Our snack bar is closed during the winter months. Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can order snacks through the Gasterij. For information and opening hours see under contact.

Furthermore, you can visit to go on tours, excursions, wine tastings, and various packages. Or just to get a glass of wine, in nature, on the wine patio!

Since an early age, Mauk's life has been about eating well. Mauk grew up in a butcher's family, so there was always a focus on delicious and responsible food at home. After gaining experience in various restaurants, Mauk now delivers fully organised BBQs and BBQ packages.

The luxury BBQs & BBQ packages are delivered free of charge at The IJsvogel from 16.50 p.p. 🚚

You can find 'Bierbrouwerij de Vlijt' in the Veluwe, where about 4000 liters of artisinal craft beer  Veluwse Schavuyt  is brewed each week. The artisanal beer has a nice full-bodied flavour and is on tap at Proeflokaal de Vlijt, which is certainly worth visiting! There is good news for the enthusiast: the beers are also available through liquor traders and at various catering facilities. 

In 2015 De Uddelaer started making delicious local beer. Due to high demand the Koetshuis of Kasteel Staverden was converted into a completely new brewing setup in 2018. As of today the beer of  Brouwerij de Uddelaer is a true local highlight. Owner Jacques Brinkman once started as an apprentice and is now the owner and brewer master!

Enjoy delicious local products from Veluwe Cheese! On demand, Annemarieke drives over The IJsvogel every Friday evening between 20:00 and 21:00 to bring you the tastiest local cheeses, sausages and delicacies such as nuts. We also sell Veluwe Cheese pamper packages with all kinds of local products in our 'Living Room'!

This beautiful goat farm in Stroe offers a large variety of biological farmer's goat cheeses, delicious! The cheeses are made artisanally by the farmers themselves and are called: "Stroese Dame". You can order the cheese online, but can of course also pick it up locally. Even the cooks at the Librije (star-awarded restaurant) had never tasted such a tasty old goat cheese!

De Lankerenhof is a biological poultry company where the chickens and roosters have plenty of space to walk and range. The animals enjoy the quiet, food, drink, and laying eggs. The roots of the Lankerenhof are in 2004, when Chris Borren participated in the project 'Houden van Hennen' by Wageningen University. You can pass by De Lankerenhof and buy so-called 'Bleieren' (biological eggs), cream, chicken filet, and real farm egg pasta. 

Forellenkwekerij 't Smallert is the only cultural historical trout farm in the Netherlands, and they know their craft. They only use the most sustainable and artisanal breeding techniques. The fish get time and space to grow and swim in the most clear spring water which comes straight from the Kroondomein forests. And you can taste that in this recognized Veluwe Regional Product. At the farm you can pick up tasty fresh trout and salmon trout to put in a pan, oven, or on the barbecue. Delightful! 

Bakker Piet has been well-known in the VEluwe for over 80 years. You will find purely Veluwe bread here, with all ingredients coming from within 20 kilometers from the bakery. The grain from private fields around Elspeet is used to perform a true craft here. That's why it is a Recognized Veluwe Regional Product. Apart from Veluwe bread, they also have delicious tarts and pastries, cookies, and cake here, and they have a cozy lunchroom !

At 'IJs van Co' they have been making the tastiest ice cream in Gelderland since 1938. The ice cream is freshly produced each day and sold at the IJsloket in Hoenderlo. The IJsmakerij is opened daily from March 1 up until the last weekend of October. You can also enjoy a delightful ice cream with various toppings here. Furthermore, they offer gluten free, sugar substituted, and lactose free ice cream. Something for everyone, in the middle of a beautiful area. A real recommendation!

At Imkerij 't Haagje Beekeeper Wilfred Muis keeps more than 40 bee colonies. They produce the best honeys of the Veluwe, with the Acacia honey being the keeper's big personal favorite. What's even more fun with this Recognized Regional Product: the beekeeper offers various practical courses. A very fun and educational stop during your stay in the Veluwe!

In both Oene and Emst you can find the traditional products of Ter Weele, a butcher who slaughters himself. Ter Weele is all about constant quality and a wide range of options. Whether it's about beef, pork, chicken, or lamb meat: all of it has a special Ter Weele quality. Furthermore, Ter Weele has a so-called  Wilderkenning. Apart from a delightful piece of meat with known background, you can also get premade game dishes here. Delicious!

You can find a huge variety in trees and plants in the Veluwe, and a large variety of wild animals as well of course. During a hike you might run into badgers, foxes, wild boars, deer, and hares. Due to wildlife management some animals have to be shot sometimes. It's not just the meat from these animals, but even the pelts that get used. This makes sure nothing is wasted. You can find these beautiful products at 'Veluwse Vachten'. The pelts are for sale at, for example, the local  Tourist Information Office!

This beautiful farm features a real farm store, offering all kinds of fresh regional products. The store offers fresh dairy, meat, vegetables, potatoes, flowers, and gifts. And you can also play a game of Boerenmidgetgolf  in a greenhouse, with old tools as obstacles. A great day out with the kids!

Since mid 2011 you can find IJstijd in Voorthuizen, in the middle of the town center. Besides delicious artisanal ice cream you can also find soft ice, milkshakes, slush coffee, and pastries at IJstijd. They furthermore make great  Dizzies soft ice which you can put together from various ingredients!

Daily fresh smoked eel from Harderwijk, delicious! Eel smoker Dries van den Berg was founded in 1978 and initially started as eel smoker with private market business. Fresh eel was smoked during the night and was sold on the market the next day. Currently there is a real museum a great recommendation!

You can find a complete and cozy living village of over 3000 square meters at the Beeldentuin in Garderen . Everyone who wants to indulge in the most beautiful garden and living decoration, statues, living accessories, and furniture is in the right place here!

Brasserie Staverden is a unique location in the Netherlands. One reason for this is its special site in the middle of the castle gardens of Staverden. The Brasserie has its private vegetable patch and greenhouse. It further feaures (heated) patios; the main sunlit patio and the so-called 'peacock patio', bordering the former peacock cage. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can collect a picknick basket which you can order in advance! You are also more than welcome there to celebrate your birthday or wedding day.

In the forest, near Ede, you will find the game restaurant Planken Wambuis. An atmospheric, nostalgic tavern from 1926 with a summer patio. The combination of the furnishing as a hunting cabin and the French menu with Veluwe twist allows you to experience the true Veluwe feeling! Children are taken into account as well, as Planken Wambuis features a fun outdoor playground. 

This cozy and affordable pancake & eatery has been well-known in Voorthuizen and the region for more than 50 years! The unique location in the Veluwe forests lets 'Eethuisje De Heuveltjes' be an ideal starting and rest point for a relaxing day out. Besides delightful food, Eethuisje De Heuveltjes also organizes packages, including a Veluwe bread meal. Have a look at the website for all delicacies and packages!

In 2012 Staverden has been officially designated the smallest city in the Benelux. Staverden features the beautiful Staverden estate. You can enjoy a relaxing hike here– it is the starting point for various hiking routes - in the forested area and visit the castle garden and the park. You will also have a great time on the patios of the brasserie. A visit to the Staverden estate is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience!

De Bonte Koe is the ideal place for a pitstop during a hike or cycling tour. The kitchen staff prefers working with fresh local products. You can taste that, the menu changes with the seasons. From October the menu features game . In their season, they serve lots of asparagus and mussels. You can also eat pancakes here, made from flour which was milled in the mill of Garderen. The speciality of De Bonte Koe is the Planking menu.

Go on an adventurous day out at SchatEiland Zeumeren. Discover the largest indoor adventure paradise in the Netherlands, for children up to 12 years old!

Grancafé Wijntje, located at the Bunckmanplein in Voorthuizen, is a cozy and atmospheric restaurant. You are welcome here for lunch, dinner, and a drink. Wijntje stands for fresh quality products which are mostly from the local area . In the summer months a large terrace is set up, allowing you to enjoy the delightful summer weather. 

Gigi's is an oriental restaurant located at the Bunckmanplein in Voorthuizen, and serves dishes from the Chinese, Thai, and Japanese kitchen. All dishes are made using only fresh daily products. Apart from lunch and dinner, you are also very welcome to come and have a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a cup of coffee.

Het Aardhuis, located on the Aardmansberg in Hoog Soeren, has existed since 1861. King Willem III had it built for meetings of military authorities, and later it served as hunting cabin for Prince Hendrik. Since 1972, per request of Queen Juliana, the building has become an educational center about nature and game, and these days it also is a restaurant. You can enjoy the magnificent nature here, while enjoying a bite and a drink. 

Restaurant NoVice is located in the picturesque town of Vierhouten. Originally it was a farm, built in 1843, part of it has been converted into a cozy restaurant. Besides the restaurant, NoVice also has a bistro, where you can get a cup of coffee with a pastry or lunch in the summer months.

A visit to the sheepfold near Ermelo is a fun activity for all ages. Shelter in provided for about 400 sheeps and the newborn lambs can be admired in February. In the adjesunt visitor centre, you will learn about the sheeps, shepherd, dogs, bees and burial mounds.

Restaurant Klavertje Vier is an atmospheric and casual restaurant located in Vierhouten. At Klavertje Vier almost everything is made in-house, such as bread, Veluwe hams and chocolates. In addition, the seasons are also taken into account, so that you will be served what is happening in the area at that time. Genuinely and sincerely Veluwe!

At Restaurant 't Herdertje it is all about three core characteristics: hospitality, creativity and lots of variety. Both taste as presentation are highly valued aspects and that is why it is a challenge for Restaurant 't Herdertje to serve the dish as beautiful as possible. 

Various arrangements are available for groups and for the children there is a fun kids corner. In good weather there is also the possibility to dine on the terrace.

The Bakery Museum of the Hanseatic city of Hattem is located in the north of the Veluwe. The museum consists of four monumental buildings that are connected by means of a tunnel. Take a look behind the scenes at the bakery in this fun museum in Hattem!

De Elzenkamp is een tuinerij uit Voorthuizen waar ieder seizoen zo'n 50 verschillende soorten groenten op een biologische wijze worden verbouwd. Hier kun terecht om groentekratten en fruittassen te bestellen met producten vers van het land. Uiteraard kun je ook altijd langsgaan om door de tuin rond te struinen of de vrijdag winkel te bezoeken. 

In september en oktober is het de bronsttijd voor de edelherten. Aanschouw het indrukwekkende spektakel van burlende herten vanaf verschillende wildobservatieplekken.
